Out of Ashes is the debut album by American rock band Dead By Sunrise (Previously known as Snow White Tan) featuring Linkin Park’s lead vocalist Chester Bennington, Anthony Valcic and Juliet-K band members Ryan Shuck, Amir Derakh, Brandon Belsky and Elias Andra.

According to Bennington, “I came up with a few songs that felt and sounded really good, but I knew they weren’t right stylistically for Linkin Park. They were darker and moodier than anything I’d come up with for the band. So I decided to work on them on my own rather than turn them over and have them transformed into Linkin Park tracks.”

Yeah Right! Chester is still whining about his “Suffering”, “How he wants to die sometimes”, “The Pain Inside” and “Oh Poor Me”. I am not buying it. The band sounds somewhat similar to Linkin Park’s new Alternative Rock transition in their last album Minutes 2 Midnight. But unlike M2M, this album lacks depth and the tendency to grasp the listener.

Verdict:
It is a passable album which proves all the Chester Bennington stereotypes to be true. Don’t bother to download and don’t freak out when the first track intro starts to sound like Jon Bon Jovi’s “It’s my life” because it won’t as it progresses.

I am giving it a liberal 2.5 out of 5. “Crawl Back In” is a treat for all the diehard Linkin Park fans and “Into You” is the second most tolerable track on the album.

Last but not the least, if you are still interested in listening to any other LP side project then check out Fort Minor’s “We Major” Mixtape. It is worth the time and download.
